HOWARD — M. Delmar Littleton, 86, of Flack Road died April 14, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 8, 1925, in Cranston, Ky., to the late Albert and Martha (Blevins) Littleton. He was a finishing roller in the steel mill where he retired after 37 years from AK Steel. He was a member of the Owl Creek Harmony Primitive Baptist Church. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the former VFW at Danville.
He is survived by his wife, Helen M. (Walker) Littleton, whom he married July 26, 1947. Also surviving are a son, Richard (Vicki) Littleton of Howard; grandchildren, Shane (Jill) Littleton of Mount Vernon, Jeremy (Laurie) Littleton of Sumter, S.C., Melissa Littleton of Westerville, Andrew (Ashley) Littleton of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Jonathon (Sarah) Littleton of Galion; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, William Littleton of Springfield and Albert (Joanie) Littleton of Bronston, Ky.; three sisters, Oleda King of Olive Hill, Ky., Jean Patterson of northern Ohio and Marie Duron of Mount Vernon; a special friend, Chuck Alexander of Apple Valley; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his special companions, his cat Blackie and his dog Lady.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ruth Littleton; a son, James A. Littleton; a grandson, Clay Littleton; and two infant sisters.
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Pastors Darwin Edwards and Jack Griffith officiating. Burial will be in the Workman Cemetery at Danville with graveside military services conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Ohio Lodge 199 in Bladensburg following the service on Monday.
