CENTERBURG — Melvin R. Linkous, 79, of Centerburg, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville.
He was born April 29, 1931, in Tazewell, Va., to the late Robert and Catherine (Pruett) Linkous. A retired tool and die maker having worked for Ranco in Delaware and AMG in Mount Vernon and a Korean U.S. Army veteran and a member of the AMVETS.
Survived by wife, Barbara Jean Clark Linkous; daughters, Tonie (Bob) Jones, Denise (Bob) Casner of Centerburg, Cheryl Love; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Jerry) Guinsler.
Preceded in death by brothers, Irvin, Lee, Paul; sister, Margaret Ross.
Friends may call one hour prior to the 3 p.m. memorial service on Tuesday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, with Pastor John Yust and Elmer Ball officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date in Virginia.
