MOUNT VERNON — Charles R. “Obie” O’Byrne, 59, of Quarry Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, April, 22, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born March 7, 1952, in Grundy, Va., to the late Boniface and Bernice (Whitt) O’Byrne. Charles served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Eagles, AMVETS Post 95 and Loyal Order of the Moose, all of Mount Vernon.
He is survived by a son, Roger O’Byrne of Huron; two grandchildren, Justin Flack and Ashley Flack; two brothers, Ron (Pam) O’Byrne of Anniston, Ala., and Larry (Yon Mi) O’Byrne of Gordonsville, Va.; the mother of his children, Emily (Jerry) Peck; and his canine companions, Rusty and Missy.
Besides his parent he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy O’Byrne.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the AMVETS Post 95, 311 S. Mechanic St., Mount Vernon. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Charles R. “Obie” O’Byrne.
