MOUNT VERNON — Donald M. Peck, 70, of Sunset Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
He was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Russell County, Va., to the late Marvin and Thelma (Wilson) Peck. Don worked 27 years as a truck driver for B&L Trucking Inc. and Owens-Illinois. Don enjoyed listening to Bluegrass Gospel music and spending quality time with his family. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he has met over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Faye (Blankenship) Peck; two sons, Ronald (Diane) Peck of Mount Vernon and Randy (Jayne) Peck of Mount Vernon; stepsons, Art (Brenda) Tucker of Centerburg and Ray (Kris Ewans) Tucker of Marengo; three stepdaughters, Chris (Mike) Pruitt of Centerburg, Stephanie Tucker of Mount Vernon and Terry (Wayne) Spray of Martinsburg; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Beeman of Louisville, Ky.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernadine Peck; second wife, Judy Peck; a brother, Larry Peck; a sister, Lois Peck; stepson, Douglas Newton; stepdaughter, Anita Cella; a granddaughter, Tamara Washington; and two great-granddaughters.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Tim Overly will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
