HOWARD — John C. Stiltner, 55, of Howard, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus following a courageous battle with declining health.
He was born Oct. 17, 1955, in Williamson, W.Va., a son of the late Donald and Esther (Blankenship) Stiltner. John was a supervisor for the Capital City Products in Columbus with 18 years of dedicated and faithful service. He enjoyed fishing and collecting knives. John’s greatest passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
John was the loving husband of Judy (Holmes) Stiltner, whom he married on July 26, 1974; and the caring father of James (Jess) Stiltner of Howard and Johnny (Traci) Stiltner of Mount Vernon. John was the proud PaPa of Blake, Ava and Makenzie. Also, surviving are a sister, Sharon (James) Walraven of Columbus; brother and sisters-in-law, Cecelia Alexander of Westerville, Richard (Sue) Alexander of Marengo, Deb Alexander of Marengo, Nancy Ronk of Westerville, Harry (Jean) Holmes of Ashley and Mike (Bernie) Sherrow of Sarasota, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Don, Bill and Joe; and a sister, Tamya.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, April 28, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tony Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Howard.
