MOUNT VERNON — Kenneth Simmons Jr., 85, of Coshocton Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1925, in Mount Vernon to the late Kenneth and Edna (Stull) Simmons. Kenneth was a self-employed stone mason and building contractor. He also was employed as a road inspector for the state of Ohio. He was a member of the Fredericktown Thrall Lodge 170 F&AM, AMVETS Post 95 and the Mount Vernon Loyal Order of the Moose. Kenneth liked to hunt, fish and travel with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Genevieve (Reynolds) Simmons; his aunt, Eva June Wenger of Jelloway; a niece, Jody Heaton of Howard; his cousins, John Connard Tollison of Millwood, Donald Tollison of Bellville and Sandra Martin of Millwood; and special friends, Bill (Mary) Hartsook of Mount Vernon and Frank (Mary) Blair of Mount Vernon.
Friends may call Thursday, April 28, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home with a Masonic service to begin at 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating. Burial will be in Amity Cemetery.
