MOUNT VERNON — Betty L. Nash, 98, a former Mansfield Avenue resident, passed away April 28, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
She was born May 5, 1912, in Mount Vernon to Brook and Nellie Mae (Lewis) Ransom. Betty was a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon and was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school class for over 50 years. Her loving family and close friends will always remember her.
She is survived by a son, RADM (Retired) David (Carolyn) Nash of Hamilton, Va.; a daughter, Susan (Richard) Huggins of Fredericktown; one granddaughter, Patricia Trigg of Pataskala; two grandsons, Jonathan (Leah) Nash of Silver Spring, Md., and Nathan Nash of Washington, D.C.; two great-granddaughters, Katherine Trigg and Alexandra Trigg, both of Pataskala; a great-grandson, Nolan Nash of Silver Spring, Md.; and many close friends and relatives.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Nash, in 1967; an infant son, Thomas Michael; one brother, Kenneth Ransom; a sister, Mary Fletcher; a sister-in-law, Margaret Nash; and grandson-in-law, Michael Trigg.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, at 1 p.m. at the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Warren Outhwaite officiating. Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Betty L. Nash family.
