JOHNSTOWN — Dorothy E. Nofziger, 91, of Johnstown, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Autumn Health Care of Newark.
Dorothy was born Dec. 10, 1919, in Youngstown. She graduated from Rayen High School, Youngstown, in 1937. She was a bookkeeper and accountant for most of her working years. She loved her church family at The Hartford Village Lighthouse in Croton. Dorothy was an avid reader, she loved to paint and draw; plus, she wrote some very nice poems. Dorothy always looked forward to attending the Chautauquas in Mount Vernon at The Place at The Woodward. She loved attending the plays and music gigs that her son, Carl Jr., participated in. Her favorite pastime was taking long rides in the car and then stopping to eat.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Carl F. Young Jr. (Roxanna) of Johnstown and David C. Young (Jo Ann) of Forrest Hills, Calif.; stepchildren, J.D. Frakes (Kay), Maxine Frakes of Texas; nine grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; along with many friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, B. Guy Flewellyn; her mother, Hulda Johanson; former husbands, Carl F. Young Sr., Orville Frakes and Morris Nofziger; and stepdaughter, Mardee Frakes.
A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be Sunday, June 12, at 3:30 p.m. at The Youth for Christ Campus, at the corner of Douglas and South Main Street (Route 37) in Johnstown.
