MOUNT VERNON — Patricia A. Baltzell, 75, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
Born in Mount Vernon on April 28, 1936, Patricia was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduation, she taught physical education at the University of Cincinnati and later moved to a position teaching physical education and biological sciences at the Cincinnati Preparatory School. In retirement, she was active as a volunteer with the Knox County Humane Society, assisting in the feline neuter and spay clinic.
Surviving are her sister, Belinda (Carl) Greiner of Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law, Don DeHaven of Birmingham, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Amelia Greiner (Basil Safi) of Baltimore, Md., Alison (Todd) Koehler of Minneapolis, Minn., Elizabeth (Michael) Pflueger of Omaha, Neb., Robert (Rhonda) DeHaven of Leesburg, Ala., and Deborah Harris of Birmingham, Ala.; stepsister, Martha Sperry of Summerfield, Ohio; stepbrothers, Walter (Cindy) Sperry and John (Pam) Sperry, both of Mount Vernon.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Robert Baltzell; mother, Edith (Johnson) Baltzell Sperry; sister, Ann DeHaven; and stepfather, Wilmot Sperry.
A memorial service honoring Patricia Baltzell will be held Friday, May 20, at 6 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. Burial will be held at a later date in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service.
