MOUNT VERNON — James Logan Murray Sr., 80, of Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born Aug. 11, 1930, in Maloneton, Ky., a son of the late Manford and Eva Adkins Murray. Jim was a retired power operator from Martin Marietta. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran serving as a medic and former volunteer with the Lucasville Little League.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Alice Helen Wagner Murray, whom he married Sept. 3, 1955, in Lucasville; one son, James (Mary) Murray Jr. of Mount Vernon; one daughter, Terri (Mark) Demidovich of Slippery Rock, Pa.; four precious grandchildren, Sabina and Ava Demidovich, and Rachel and Alex Murray; and one sister, Evelyn (Harold) Fraley of Lucasville.

He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Graveside military services will be conducted at noon, Tuesday, May 10, in Lucasville Cemetery by the William A. Baker and James Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
