MANSFIELD — Richard L. “Dick” Holmes, 75, of rural Mansfield, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

He was born April 1, 1936, in Mansfield, to Thomas and Eloise (Pittenger) Holmes. Dick graduated from Union High School in 1954, and lived and farmed his entire life in Weller Township.

He is survived by his mother, Eloise Holmes; a cousin and best friend, Jerry Pittenger of Mansfield; and cousins, Judith (Pittenger) Bucknam of Naples, Fla., Robert “Bob” Boyce of Portland, Ore., and Karen Gibson of Westerville.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a special aunt, June (Pittenger) Adams.

The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving his family with private graveside services. Burial will be in Pavonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
