MOUNT VERNON — Martha J. Pealer, 86, of North Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Country Court Nursing Center.
She was born April 24, 1925, in Mount Vernon to the late George and Florence (Champion) Harris. Martha was a graduate of The Ohio State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She was employed as a secretary for the Midland Mutual Insurance Co. in Columbus and for Cooper Industries here in Mount Vernon. Martha was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by three sons, Judson (Sandra) Pealer of Rangeley, Maine, George (Lynda) Pealer of Dublin, John Pealer of Columbus; five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Margery Hollis of Plano, Texas.
Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo Pealer; a grandson, Ryan Pealer; three brothers, Benjamin Harris, George Harris, Ralph “Spiv” Harris; and a sister, Nellie Sali.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held Wednesday at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church beginning at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Karl Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
