BELLVILLE — Marla Rae Elliott, 57, of Toms Road, Bellville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 3, 1954, in Marion County to the late Ray and Linda Lou (Ward) Knapp. Marla worked as the airport manager for the Knox County Airport from 1994 until present. She was a strong advocate for smaller airport aviation and would often speak at the Ohio Aviation Conference. Marla was a member of the Ohio Airport Association and currently served as secretary.

At home, Marla enjoyed working outside in her vegetable and flower gardens and collecting cookie jars. She was a member of the Buckeye Oliver Collectors, where she served as past secretary and the Oliver Hart-Parr National Club. Marla just recently hosted the 2011 spring picnic for the Buckeye Oliver Collectors.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Elliott; three sons, Drew Elliott of Fredericktown, Bobby Fisher and Brian Fisher; a daughter, Marcie Fisher; and two brothers, Rick Knapp of Ashville and Terry (Jill) Knapp of Mount Gilead.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call Thursday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. The family will observe a private funeral service and burial.
