MOUNT VERNON — Thomas Evander White, 91, of Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

He was born Nov. 23, 1919, in South Bend, Ind., and was the son of the late Jay Evander and Lola (Mack) White. Tom worked for Cooper Energy Services as an engineer from 1956 until his retirement from then known as Cooper Industries in 1984. Tom served his country in the Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; a daughter, Gwendolyn Anne White of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two stepchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

His first wife, Dorothy, preceded Tom in death in 2000.

In keeping with Tom’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m. in Mound View Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral services for the White family.
