MOUNT VERNON — George W. “Butch” Simpkins Jr., 65, of West High Street, Mount Vernon, was pronounced dead on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at his home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1946, in Mount Vernon to George W. Simpkins Sr. and Norma J. (Parker) Twigg. George was employed at Chattanooga Glass and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his mother, Norma J. Twigg; his stepmother, Sue Simpkins; three brothers, John Simpkins, Larry Simpkins and Dave Simpkins; and six sisters, Donna Conner, Cathy Asburay, Carol Moran, Bonita Steward, Mary Lou Kiner and Kay Klein.

George was preceded in death by his father, George W. Simpkins Sr.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 1, at 11 a.m. in Mound View Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of George W. Simpkins Jr.
