MANSFIELD — Claude E. Amos, 88, died Friday, May 27, 2011, in Firelands Regional Hospital in Sandusky.
Born July 22, 1922, in Cleveland, Va., to John and Anna (Hoffman) Amos, he joined the Army Air Corps serving in Normandy and Northern France during World War II. He received five battle stars and a distinguished Unit Badge. He worked 26 years as an electrician with Empire Detroit Steel.
Survived by sons, Kenneth, Roger, Claude and Dwight Amos; his daughter, Judy Berry; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Dare Starling; brother, Duard Amos; and extended family.
Preceded in death by his wife, Velva (Hess) Amos; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Graveside funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Lantz Cemetery. Pastors Jim Berry and Charles Barnhill will officiate.
