MANSFIELD — Emerson “Slim” Harman, 93, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at his home following a short illness.
Emerson was born Feb. 13, 1918, to Andrew and Rebecca (Hinkle) Harman in Upshur County, W.Va. Emerson was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany during World War II. A 30-year employee of General Motors, Emerson retired in 1986.
Survived by a son, David Harman; a stepdaughter, Kay Noel; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathleen Franta.
Preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Harman; sons, John Harman and Douglas Harman; a stepdaughter, Penny Ferguson; three brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 1, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
