MOUNT VERNON — Dale O. Watson, 85, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Dale was born Aug. 7, 1925. in Mount Vernon to Reuben A. and Edna E. (Shutt) Watson and had spent his lifetime in Knox County. He served in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dale retired from the Continental Can Co. in Mount Vernon, where he had been employed as a machine operator and he was also a lifetime farmer having maintained farms in Miller and Liberty townships.

Surviving are his nephew, Lee (Mary Ann) Walker of Mount Vernon; a niece, Marie Walker of Mount Vernon; a great-niece, Burgandi Walker; and great-nephew, Colton Walker.

Besides his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Allora M. Watson; and his sister, Ruth Walker.

There will be no calling hours. Military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council followed by graveside funeral services will be Monday, June 6, at 1 p.m. at Brandon Cemetery with Pastor Thomas Goossens officiating.
