MANSFIELD — Steve G. Olexa, 73, of Mansfield passed away June 3, 2011, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.

He was born June 26, 1937, in Bellaire, the son of Steve and Mary (Barnes) Olexa. Steve served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was awarded the Sharp Shooter Badge, and was honorably discharged following a year and a half of service. He was a member of AMVETS and American Legion Post 16. Steve worked as a lineman for AT&T, retiring in 1991 with 36 years of service.

Steve is survived by a daughter, Laura L. Olexa of Cincinnati; a son, Steve J. Olexa of Bellville; a brother, Tom (Marie) Olexa of Brecksville; and his companion and friend, Sharon Dickerson of Bellville.

Calling hours are Tuesday, 4-6 p.m., in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti will officiate. Private burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery
