BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. — Timothy Artemus Whited was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Buchanan County, Va., to Ethel and Artemus Whited and went on to Heaven to be with his Savior on Thursday, June 3, 2011. He succumbed to unexpected heart failure after 70 full years of life.
Tim was raised in the mountains of Grundy, Va., were he learned the value of becoming a man early and how to get the most out of any situation. As a young man he decided to move to the heart of Ohio where he locked eyes on, captured, and married his beautiful bride, Marilyn Joyce Dilley, on Oct. 27, 1962. They enjoyed a model marriage of friendship and devotion for 48 years.
Tim was a natural leader full of integrity and commitment in every aspect of his life. His work ethic was an example to follow as he devoted 40 years to the construction industry. His hobbies included motorcycles, golf, beekeeping, eagle watching and gardening. Moreover, in January 1981, he rededicated and focused his life to Jesus through service to others through his local church.
Tim was preceded in death by two siblings and survived by seven others. In addition, he had three children, Mrs. Greg (Tamara) Collins, Vaughan and Chris Whited; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Sunday, June 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home (33 E. College St., Fredericktown, Ohio 43050). The funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Impact Worship Center (160 Woodruff Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44904).
In lieu of flowers the family request all gifts be made to Impact Worship Center.
In the sage words of King Solomon, Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” so was Tim’s life in the impact of those who loved him.
