CENTERBURG — Hoy Jr. Harris of Centerburg died Sunday, June 5, 2011, on his 88th birthday at home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 5, 1923, near Bloomfield to the late Hoy M. and Zana (Mitchell) Harris. Following graduation from Sparta High School in 1942, he entered the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during World War II.

Survived by his wife, Dorothy (White); children, Constance Clark, Jeff Stuart (Sally Ann) Harris, Laura Sue (Harlan) Hood, Linda Dorene (John) Dickey, Clinton (Kim) Harris; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Carroll (Donna) Harris; sister, Mary Helen (Dale) Spearman; sister-in-law, Roberta Harris.

Preceded in death by a grandson, Josh; and brothers, Milton (Mary) Harris and Maurice Harris.

Friends may call today from 4-7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Larry Carnes officiating. Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery.
