MOUNT VERNON — Alan D. Vernon, 61, of Mount Vernon passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, June 6, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Mount Vernon, son of the late Twyla (Marvin) Crim.

Alan is survived by his children, Edyth Zimmerman, Cynthia Vernon and Matthew Vernon; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl, Dana and Lance Vernon, and Mark and Eric Crim; and sisters, Linda Starr and Teresa Crim.

In addition to his mother, Alan was preceded in death by a brother, John Crim.

The family will have a graveside service for Alan at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 10, in Mound View Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating.
