MOUNT VERNON — Marie A. Zweering, 70, of Woodlake Trail, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born May 8, 1941, in Tower City, Pa., to the late Charles and Mary (Conway) Scheib. Marie graduated from the Mount Vernon Bible College and retired in 2000 as a business systems designer for Sprint. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she had served as the North Central District Prime Time Director, president of the Fidelis Sunday School class and taught Sunday school for many years. Marie was an active volunteer with Interchurch Social Services of Knox County, where she served as receptionist, fish driver and worked with Turn the Tide. Marie was also an active volunteer for the last 10 years with Operation Christmas Child. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, John Zweering; a son, Doug (Anita) Zweering of Hilliard; a granddaughter, Audrina Zweering; and two sisters, Helen Singer of Harrisburg, Pa., and Carol (Dennis) Rickert of Lansdale, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 807 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Russ Gumm will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
