MOUNT VERNON — Philip A. Ransom Jr., 85, of Mount Vernon died Saturday afternoon, June 11, 2011, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.

He was born March 23, 1926, in Mount Vernon, a son of the late Philip and Letha (Lewis) Ransom Sr. He was employed at Shellmar Industries for two years, Mercy Hospital for over 12 years and the Mount Vernon Developmental Center for over 10 years. Philip was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose, Order 824 Mount Vernon.

Philip is survived by friends and neighbors, Edna Hedrick, Herald Hoagland, Ken Neibarger, Bob (Christine) Wertz, Kent (Susan) Miller; and his canine friend, Callie.

In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by an infant sister, Margaret Louise Ransom.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 15, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Mound View Cemetery.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to serve the friends and neighbors of Philip A. Ransom Jr.
