MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy A. (Meyer) Collins, 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Cleveland to Paul W. and Della Mary (Harding) Meyer. Dorothy was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Rosemarie Phillips, Phyllis (Henry) Nyhart and Mary Collins, all of Mount Vernon, Rita (Charles) Dudgeon of Gambier and William (Joan) Collins of Mount Vernon; sister, Rita Overmeyer; a brother, Frank Meyer; sister-in-law, Lucille Meyer; 15 grandchildren, Drew (Kelly) Phillips, Della (Dan) Ellinger, Damien (Brooke) Phillips, Bridgett (Mike) Shearer, Bernadette (Scott) Redman, Patrick (Andrea) Nyhart, Christine (Aaron) Cook, Rebecca Nyhart, Michael (Tiffany) Dudgeon, Danielle (Bobby) Walker, Anne (Brian) Coxbill, Veronica, Jessica Dudgeon and Carol and Christopher Collins; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Collins; grandson, Andy Dudgeon; brothers, Father. P. Wayne Meyer, Charles G. Meyer, William Meyer; sisters, Hazel Boeshart, Ruth Meyer, Teresa Meier; brothers-in-law, Carl Boeshart, Bernard Meier and Robert Overmeyer.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where a Rosary service will follow calling hours at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
