GROVE CITY, Pa. — Elton D. Clarke, 84, of (Liberty Township) Grove City, Pa., since 1957, passed away Sunday, June 19, at 12:10 a.m. at Trinity Living Center, Grove City, Pa., after an extended illness.
He was born May 16, 1927, in Grove City, Pa., to Harold D. Clarke and Vida Jane Surrena. On Oct. 2, 1952, he married Betty Jane Gray. She died on May 11, 1999. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired in 1989 from Cooper Energy Services, where he was a machinist for 43 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, Pa., F&AM Lodge 603, Grove City, New Castle Consistory, Pine Grove Rovers and National Campers Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Jane Clarke and companion, Thomas Cassell, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Becky Anne Clarke, Grove City, Pa.; one brother, Calvin H. Clarke and wife, Patricia, Denver, Pa.; three grandchildren, S/SGT Cyrus Thomas and wife, Sheryl, Newport, N.C., and Sean E. Thomas and Allison N. Thomas, both Mount Vernon, Ohio; two great-grandchildren; and one nephew and two nieces.
Preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral service will be Thursday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, Pa., with the Rev. Willard Morse, visitation pastor of Grace Church officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Grove City, Pa.
