MOUNT VERNON — Jean C. Goeppinger, 69, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday morning, June 25, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born Jan. 6, 1942, in New England, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Norma (Gould) Walraven. Jean enjoyed camping, gardening and crafts. She had a great love of spending time with her family, especially all her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband, Arthur Goeppinger, whom she married on Aug. 3, 1970; her children, Rusty Durfee of Mount Vernon, Chuck (Sarah) Durfee of Crestline, Coni (Trent) Tipton of Mount Vernon, Rick (Dee) Durfee of Mount Vernon, Donna (Mike) Durbin of Centerburg, Troy Durfee of Howard, and JR (fiancé, Rebecca Nyhart) Goeppinger of Mount Vernon; stepchildren, Mike and Jerry Goeppinger of Detroit, Mich., and Judy Reed of Dundee, Mich.; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, George; and sisters, Mary Ann, June and Garnet.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil, Charlie, Wilbur and Melvin; and sisters, Shirley and Loretta.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 29, at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
