MANSFIELD — Velma M. “Tudie” Ward, 60, died Monday, June 27, 2011, in Lexington Court.

Tudie was born in Morehead, Ky., on Oct. 3, 1950, to parents Elwood and Beaulah (Buckner) Brown. In 1972, she married Alvie D. Ward, who preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by her father of Mount Gilead; siblings, Sandra White of Mount Gilead, Pamela and Kenny Sr. Daughriety of Mount Vernon, Shonnie and Ronald Sexton of Mansfield, and Mike and Sherry Brown of Mount Gilead; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

In addition to her husband, Tudie was preceded in death by her mother.

Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, at the People’s Baptist Church at 11 a.m., where burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Pastor James Spencer will officiate.
