DANVILLE — Alexandra N. “Ally” Grubaugh, 13, of Danville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, after her courageous yearlong battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 17, 1998, in Newark to Steven Grubaugh and Jodi (John Everhart) Allen. Ally was an energetic seventh-grader at Danville Middle School, where she enjoyed reading, cheerleading and softball. With the help of Make-A-Wish, Ally had some of her best days when she got to meet Zac Efron and spend time with her family at Walt Disney World. Ally also enjoyed the day when Walmart of Mount Vernon hosted the “Rally for Ally” day. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Besides her parents she is survived by two brothers, Kristopher Johnson and Kai Johnson; three sisters, Melinda (Josh) Kline, Samantha Snow and Alexis Everhart; maternal grandparents, Frank and Darlene Allen; paternal grandfather, Robert Grubaugh; stepmaternal grandmother, Deborah Everhart; aunts and uncles, Paul Allen, Daniel Allen, Shanna Fischer, Bobby Grubaugh, Andy Grubaugh, Michelle Miller and Bud Everhart.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Betty Grubaugh; stepmaternal grandfather, Dale Everhart; and aunt, Eugenia Everhart-Swint.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Workman Cemetery at Danville. Dr. Cipriamo Gomez will be officiating. There will be a memorial service for Ally at the Danville Middle School at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Alexandra N. “Ally” Grubaugh.
