NASHPORT — Edward “Everett” McCowan, 57, of Nashport, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Athens.

He was born March 21, 1954, in Greatneck, N.Y., to the late Horace and Sarah (Everett) McCowan Sr. He was president and CEO of the Edward H. Everett Company, a Licking County oil and gas producer, which was founded by his grandfather in 1886 and still operates oil and gas wells. He was a graduate of Boston University and worked Wall Street before coming to the area in 1978 to operate the company as the third generation of his family. Everett was a very bright and charismatic man who left behind many stories of laughter.

He is survived by his children, Dana Purdy, Coty Kennedy, Toni Hunt and Sarah McCowan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will observe a private memorial service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Edward “Everett” McCowan.
