SIDNEY — James Raterman, 67, of Sidney, formerly of Russia, Ohio, died Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2011.
He was born June 1, 1944, in Piqua to the late George and Marie (Peltier) Raterman. He was married Oct. 17, 1964, to Joyce Voisard. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1987.
He is survived by his second wife, Joyce Meyer, whom he married on July 23, 1994. He is also survived by his daughters, Shelly and Sam Gilardi, Mount Vernon, Missy and Brad Francis, Russia, Ohio; stepsons, Richard and Chris Meyer, and John and Angie Meyer, both of Botkins, and David Meyer of Kettlersville; grandchildren, Ashley, Jocelyn and Kyle Gilardi, Derek, Danielle, Treg and Corrina Francis, and Cameron Raterman; stepgrandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Collin, Courtney, Cody and Sydney Meyer; sisters, Janet and Larry Monnin, and Julie and Frank Gilardi, both of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by sister, Judy; and son, Michael.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, and former member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. He was also a member of Versailles Eagles and the Sidney Moose Lodge. After having various jobs at Copeland Corporation he retired in 2006 after 44 years of service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 4, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Remy Catholic Church with the Revs. Frank Amberger and Daniel Schmitmeyer con-celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Remy Cemetery. Friends may call at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia, Ohio, on Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m.
