FREDERICKTOWN — Amanda J. Kandel, 80, of Upper Fredericktown Road, Fredericktown, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Country Club Retirement Campus.

She was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Holmes County, Ohio, to the late Joseph and MaryAnn (Hostetler) Mast. Amanda was a member of the Gilead Mennonite Church.

She is survived by her husband, of over 59 years, Vernon Kandel; a daughter, Bonnie (Kelly) Warner of Fredericktown; three sons, Vernon (Brenda) Kandel Jr. of Mount Vernon, James (Denise) Kandel of DeGraff, Glen (Barbara) Kandel of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Kandel of Apple Creek and Beulah (Albert) Miller of Millersburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Amanda was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Kandel, Alma Hershberger, Sarah Swartzentruber; and two brothers, Eli Mast and Henry Mast.

Friends may call Tuesday July 5, at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday in Forest Cemetery, beginning at 10 a.m., with Pastor Murray Krabill officiating. A memorial service will be held after the graveside at the Gilead Mennonite Church beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Amanda J. Kandel.
