UTICA — Edith Irene Woodruff, 67, of Utica, passed away July 1, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Mount Vernon to Halley and Betty (Veatch) Ashburn. Edith was a member of the North Side Church of Christ in Vanatta and retired from the Utica Care Center.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Kenneth Woodruff; her children, Brent (Gina) Woodruff of Clarksville, Tenn., Lee (Stephanie) Woodruff of Kekaha, Hawaii, Erika (Mark) Campbell and Iva (David Schwartz) Woodruff, both of Bladensburg, and Jason (Sadra) Woodruff of Utica; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Joanne (Hoarce) Shipman of Utica; and a brother, David (Connie) Ashburn of Greenville, S.C.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Sonny, Larry and James Ashburn; two sisters, Nancy Thorn and Sarah Pargeon.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Edith will be held Tuesday, July 5, at 11 a.m. at North Side Church of Christ, 4427 Marion Road, Vanatta, with Pastor Bruce Hissong officiating. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg is handling the funeral arrangements for the Woodruff family.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
