MOUNT VERNON — Janice C. Strouse, 60, of Hamtramck Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
She was born Jan. 2, 1951, in Richlands, Va., to the late Emory and Cassie (Lawson) Lester. Janice worked as STNA nurse for The Laurels of Mount Vernon and the Knox County Health Department. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Eagles, both of Mount Vernon.
She is survived by a son, Mike (Elaine) Strouse of Brinkhaven; a daughter, Tracy Foster of Florida; six grandchildren, Heidi Hawk, Cody Strouse, Autumn Hawk, Megan Clemens, Chelsea Taylor and Chase Foster; a brother, Floyd “Pat” Lester of Fredericktown; a nephew, Doug (Ginger) Lester; a niece, Roxanne Wolford; and good friend, Kris Robinson.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Don “Pinkie” Lester.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at noon at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Tim Overly will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
