LEXINGTON — George Arthur Eckert, 93, of Lexington, died Monday, July 11, 2011, in Lexington Court Care Center.

He was born Dec. 21, 1917, on his family’s farm in Morrow County. The son of Jay and Hazel (Colson) Eckert, he graduated from Lexington High School in 1935. A very hard worker, George drove a school bus for Lexington for 25 years, all the while operating his own farm.

Survived by two sons, Larry (Vikki) Eckert and Gary (Darlene) Eckert, both of Lexington; two grandchildren, David Eckert and Traci Lewin; and great-grandchildren, Emily Stroble and Ryan Eckert.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred E. Eckert; and a sister, Jeanette Miller.

Friends may call Thursday, July 14, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Millissa Hartson will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
