MOUNT VERNON — Marlyn Hylene “Sue” Bostwick, 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away July 11, 2011, at the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital.
Marlyn was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Mount Vernon to Florence (Taylor) Shrimplin and Donald M. Pipes, stepfather Willard “Punk” Shrimplin. She was married in Coshocton on Feb. 22, 1947, to William W. Bostwick to whom she was married to for 64 years.
Marlyn was an avid member of the Vine Street Church of Christ, as well as the AMVETS Post 95.
Marlyn was employed at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center; she administered the MVDC quality assurance program, and was previously an administrative assistant. She was also an employee omsbudsman and organized the MVDC employee council. She retired in August 1986, after 25 years of service with the state of Ohio.
She was truly a special person to everyone she knew. She touched so many lives and will be sadly missed. Marlyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending every moment she could with them. She also enjoyed traveling to many different places with her husband and children.
Marlyn is survived by her husband, William W. “Bill” Bostwick, daughter, Holly E. (John D.) Cline, son, Timothy L. Bostwick, all Mount Vernon; her grandchildren, William “Bill” Chadwick, Carrie (Dan) Kloh, Mandy (Jeff) Holt, Jamie (Joe) Hansen, Colin (Megan) Christopher and Brianna Bostwick; and great-grandchildren, Stevie, Chad, Joe, Draven, Emily, Ethan, Ciearra, Caelin and Elliott.
Her parents and stepfather, an uncle, Ike Pipes, and her grandparents preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, with Pastor Joe Overholt officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday.
