MOUNT VERNON — George H. Prosser, 90, of Mount Vernon, passed away July 12, 2011, at Country Meadow Nursing Home in Bellville.
He was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Lorain County to the late Elmer George and Rosella Minerva (Draper) Prosser. George was the former owner of Brinning’s News in Mount Vernon. He was also the former manager of the Elks Club and was a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his daughter, C. Susan (Ron) Vlcek of Medina; sisters, Esther Dales of Mount Vernon, Florence Hawthorne of Washington; a brother, Don Prosser of California; five grandchildren, Sarah Vlcek and Laura Vlcek, both of Chicago, Carolyn Vlcek and David Vlcek, both of Medina, and Mark Vlcek of Columbus.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Prosser; and a sister, Naomi Bell.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 23, at 1 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
