BLUFFTON — Goldie Iola Prudence Lawson, 92, a resident of the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton and formerly of Danville, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at the home.
She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Glenmont to the late William Howard L. and Myrtle Christina (Jones) Mullet. Goldie had a servant’s heart and was a caregiver most of her life, while being an advocate for the mentally handicapped. She was a longtime member of the Northwest Avenue Church of Christ in Tallmadge, Ohio.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancelee (Roger) Smith of Bluffton; granddaughter, Wendy (Jon) Souzis of Groveport; grandsons, Scott (Heather) Smith of Geneva, Ill., and Eric (Brittany) Smith of Upland, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Abby and Anna Souzis, Brady, Avery and Nora Smith, and Jack, Audrey and William Smith; and a niece, Barbara Ann Mullet Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Lawson, whom she married March 16, 1946, he died March 8, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her son, David Lawson; a brother, Alvin “Tim” Mullet.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 19, at 2:30 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Clifford Beck and Harrison Underwood officiating.
