PAVONIA — Letta L. Talaga, 88, of Pavonia, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, in Mansfield MedCentral Hospital following a brief illness.
Letta was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Lucas the daughter of Herman and Viva Spreng. During the Depression she helped shovel coal, and during World War II she worked at Westinghouse. Later Letta was an accountant for Sears. She then retired from Empire Detroit Steel. Although retired, Letta continued working part time for Therm-O-Disc. She attended First English Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son, Greg McKinley of Pavonia; half brothers, Jack (Patricia) Merchant and Jim Merchant, both of Lucas; nephews, Mark and Mike Merchant.
Along with her parents, Letta was preceded in death by her first husband, George McKinley; and second husband, Stan Talaga.
Visitation will be Monday, July 18, from 2-3 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral will begin at 3 p.m. The Rev. Paul Larson will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
