MOUNT VERNON — Thomas A. Twigg, 77, of West High Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

He was born April 13, 1934, to the late William and Osee (Cramer) Twigg. He attended Centerburg High School and Mount Vernon High School. Thomas was a farmer and he also managed the Knotty Pine Restaurant in Bangs. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force, 1951-1953, where he received a National Defense Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Norma (Parker) Twigg; a brother, Brice (Helen) Twigg of Mount Vernon; a sister, Betty Jane Smith of Harrod; four stepdaughters, Donna (Dennis) Conner of Mount Vernon, Bonita (Justin) Steward of Mount Vernon, Carol (Lewis) Moran of Mount Vernon, Cathy Asburay of Wooster.

Besides his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine (Coon) Twigg; a sister, Margaret Van Houten; a stepson, George Simpkins Jr.; four half brothers; and five half sisters.

There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a memorial service at a date to be announced. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Thomas A. Twigg.
