MOUNT VERNON — Leonard E. Holbrook, 70, of Gambier Street, Mount Vernon, died Saturday July 23, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Logan County, W.Va., to the late Earl and Lula (Fields) Holbrook. Leonard was retired form the Morrow County Highway Department where he had worked as a mechanic. For many years he was the custodian at the St. Vincent de Paul School.

Survivors include Leonard’s daughter, Linda Holbrook-Rains, granddaughter, Misty (Matt) Grohe, and great-grandsons, Trenten and Trey Grohe, all of Mount Vernon; sister, Thelma (Carl) Bonice of Minnesota; brother-in-law, Charles R. Price of Blacklick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie M. (Butcher) Holbrook; and two sisters, Gaythel Holbrook and Katherine Price.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, at 3 p.m. in Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Holbrook family.
