MOUNT VERNON — James A. Raymond, 74, of Pleasant Valley Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at the Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.

He was born April 27, 1937, in Mount Vernon to the late Arthur and Catherine (Magers) Raymond. He was employed at Dana Corp. as a receiving clerk from which he retired. James was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Mount Vernon and attended the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and bowler. James was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Cleveland Indians. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, of over 43 years, Joan (Higgins) Raymond; and his son, Rich Raymond of Mount Vernon.

Friends may call Monday, Aug. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where a service will be held Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond will officiate. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
