CLEVELAND — Eleanor Chapman Phelps, 83, of Cleveland, formerly of Centerburg, died Aug. 5, 2011, at Riverside Hospital.

She was a graduate of Centerburg High School, Otterbein College and Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, where she received her RN certification. A member of Church of the Western Reserve, she was an avid gardener and active garden club member.

Survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Robert M. Phelps; sons, Robert (Shawn) Phelps of Grantham, N.H., and John (Cathy) Phelps of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren, Jennifer Phelps of Grantham, N.H., Karen (Simon) Prior of Dingle, Ireland, Jessica (Cody) Clark and Matthew Phelps, all of Bismark, N.D.; great-grandson, Kevin Prior; sisters, Jean (Phyl) Huffman of Centerburg, Carol (John) Evans of Westerville and Beth (Bob) Murphy of Worthington; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, followed by a service at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Jeffrey G. DeYoe will officiate. Interment will be in Lock Cemetery, Lock.
