NEWARK — Richard E. O’Brien, 60, of Newark, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 28, 2011.
He was born July 10, 1951, in Mount Vernon to the late James and Charlene O’Brien. Rich attended Mount Vernon High School and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Mary O’Brien, whom he married on May 4, 1994; two daughters, Kelly (Paul) Cheadle of Utica, Melissa O’Brien and Ronald McMullen of Newark; seven grandchildren; sister, Cathy O’Brien; cousins, Michael (Andrea) O’Brien and Marjorie O’Brien; and Jazzie the dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James O’Brien and Charlene O’Brien; grandparents, Charles and Nellie Frye; and brother, Ronnie O’Brien.
A private family gathering was held Aug. 3, 2011, at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home in Newark.
