MANSFIELD — Frank Karl Ackard, 87, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 3, 1924, in Widen, W.Va., to William and Helen (Pulikowski) Ackard. A proud veteran, he served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II. Frank was an auditor for General Motors and was a former member of the Mansfield Lion’s Club.
He is survived by a brother, William Ackard of Hickory, N.C.; and his companion of many years, Betty Gatton of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice “Bee” Ackard, on March 13, 1994.
Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Dave Root will officiate and burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
