MOUNT VERNON — Ida Rose Givens, 96, of East High Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1915, in Grove City, Pa., to the late Roy and Pearl (Teare) Reynolds. Ida was employed as a purchasing agent for Shellmar Corp., and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City, Pa. She was an avid golfer and golf fan. She also enjoyed Bridge, cats and reading. Ida received her teaching degree from Grove City College in Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her nephew, Rick Reynolds of Pennsylvania; four nieces, Marilyn McCoy of California, Polly Burke of Colorado, Jane Reynolds of Pennsylvania and Beth Behnke of California; and a very special friend, Barbara Perry of Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Givens; her brother, Rolfe Reynolds; her sister, Doris McCoy; and an infant sister.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Aug. 11, beginning at 1 p.m. in Mound View Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating.
