GAMBIER — James Allen Ogden, 69, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at his residence.

He was born July 10, 1942, in Wayne County to Walter L. and Ruth C. (Hartman) Ogden. On Feb. 21, 1970, he was married to Georgianna McFadden. He was a retired dairy farmer, and enjoyed taking care of his cattle. He also enjoyed antique tractors, trains and watching sports.

Jim was a lifelong member of the Farm Bureau, and was a member of the Dairy Farmers of America, the Ohio and National Holstein Association, the Dairy Service Unit Board of Wayne and Knox counties, and the Nellie United Methodist Church. He was also a former 4-H advisor, and member of the Warsaw United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Georgianna Ogden of Gambier; son, Kenneth Ogden of Alpharetta, Ga.; son, Richard (Lisa) Ogden of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter, Elizabeth Ogden of Cumming, Ga.; son, Matthew Ogden of Gambier; brother, Dwight (Nancy) Ogden of Wooster; sister, Eleanor Cochran of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jane Wachtel.

A funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Monica Huntsman will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
