CENTERBURG — Michael Dale Pennington, 24, of Centerburg, died unexpectedly at home Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011.

He was born July 26, 1987, in Columbus to H. Dale Jr. and Becky S. (Westervelt) Pennington of Centerburg. Mike was a 2005 graduate of Centerburg High School and the auto technician program of Knox County Career Center. Working at the Centerburg NAPA Auto Parts Store, he was a third generation family member assisting in the operation of the family business. He could sell and barter just about anything.

Always helpful and a jokester, he was described as a good young man. He cared about everyone. One with numerous interests, too many to mention, he enjoyed playing basketball with friends. Considered a master griller, he was a wonderful cook. Mike favored cars and trucks of all types, especially his “1923 T-bucket.” He treasured time spent fishing and hanging out with family. He will be remembered for his warm genuine smile and love of family.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by sister, Katelyn Marie Pennington; grandparents, Dale and Lindy Pennington of Howard and Karen Westervelt of Marengo; aunts, uncles and cousins, including Britney Pennington; a host of friends, including his adopted “bro” Matt Adkins; and his Bassett hound, Duke.

Friends may call Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, in Sunbury.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Michael Pennington Memorial Fund, c/o First-Knox National Bank, 35 W. Main St., Centerburg, OH 43011.
