MOUNT VERNON — Narita E. Buxton, 73, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at her residence following an extended illness.

Narita was born July 2, 1938, in Belmont County to Warren and Hildreth (Pryor) Kemp. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had been employed at Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon, as a private duty nurse and at Dr. Myron Thomas’ office.

She was a member of the Newark Road Church of Christ in Mount Vernon. Narita had been a 4-H leader and advisor for many years with the K-9 Companions Club and the Liberty Star Homemakers Club.

Surviving are her husband, Clark Buxton, whom she married Dec. 26, 1967; her children, Rhonda (Martin) Lant of Horseheads, N.Y., Russell (Cheryl) King of Creston and Barry (Beth Ann) Buxton of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; and her brother, Alton (Dorothy) Kemp of Bethesda.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Liberty Chapel Cemetery near Mount Vernon.
