BELLVILLE — Avis Eileen Diehl, 92, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Bellville, passed away Aug. 12, 2011, in Ohio Eastern Star Home at Mount Vernon.
The daughter of Paul and Pearl Yarger, Avis was born Feb. 5, 1919; was a 1937 graduate of Mount Vernon High School; and attended Mansfield Business College. She married Carl T. Diehl on Oct. 21, 1938. She was employed by the Village of Lexington as a bookkeeper in the water department, retiring in 1980. Avis was a 62-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her children, Ed and Gail Diehl of Westerville and Carol Lee Crotty of Ontario; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Yarger of Bellville; nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, deceased is a sister, Norma Garber.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Avis Eileen Diehl will be Monday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Ohio Eastern Star Home, 1451 Gambier Road.
